Questing Moon™ Studio is the artistic home of Chanda K. Zimmmerman. Questing Moon™ Studio has been in business since 1985. Under the name SedgeHollow Hall™, we also produce stationary, paper crafts and other products.

As an artist, I work in many different arenas, including:

Design

Design is the art of putting your message into a creative visual format. That format might be print, or some electronic medium like the web, video or even Power Point. As a designer, I provide my clients at Questing Moon™ Communications with creative concepts, and work with in-house and outside creative teams to plan, create and produce everything from print brochures to broadcast videos. Because design, production and writing/editing are so closely aligned, it makes sense for me to participate in all three aspects of a project, if a client prefers.

I also provide selected production services at QMS for smaller clients, including print layout for book manuscripts. I usually work in Quark 7, although I have InDesign as well. I also produce Power Point presentations, and do limited web design.

Illustration

I do traditional illustration, focusing primarily on pen & ink and watercolor, although I also work in colored pencil and gouache. I like illustration because it tells a story without words. That's one reason I'm particularly interested in children's book illustration, although I also do spot illustrations for manuals, and line art for rubber stamps. My style leans toward whimsical realism. Good illustration helps clarify instructions. It also attracts a reader's attention, and focuses their thoughts on a specific part of the message or story. In essence, illustration can help us see the world in detail, or can show us things we can only imagine.

3-D, Textile and Large Format

Over the years I've been asked to do some interesting things. I've painted giant safari animals on wall panels for a summer church program, created a life-size dragon out of paper mache, handmade twenty-plus paper mache doves for a church installation, and designed and drafted a lot of craft projects such as 3-d Nativity sets. I'm also articularly interested in art weaving and quilting.
